Tonight’s meeting began with a presentation from Mr. Scott DeShong, head Principal for the Avon Grove High School. This presentation included the post-secondary plans for our 2019 graduating class.  A video was also presented to the board members and community which featured a select group of students thanking teachers that had the most impact on them during their tenure at the Avon Grove School District.

There was only one report from Committee’s which was a recap of the budget work session from May 28th.

At tonight’s meeting, agenda items 5.02 and 5.03 which were Resolution 20-02 for the 2019-2020 General Fund Budget and the Resolution 20-03 for the 2019-2020 School Real Estate Tax respectively each were voted on separately.  Due to three board members being absent tonight, it was required that each item receive a 5 votes in order to pass.  Each Resolution resulted in a 4-2 vote with Lisi, Wood, Engel and Wolff voting “Yea” to each and Weber and Auerbach “Nay” to each.  Due to these resolutions not passing, the budget for the 2019-2020 school year has not been approved.

During the meeting, Dr. Michael Snopkowski was approved for the position of Assistant District Superintendent. A swearing-in ceremony was performed by Judge Matthew Seavey from Chester County District Court.

The final meeting for the 2018-2019 school year will take place on Monday June 10th, 2019. The purpose of this meeting will be to approve the two aforementioned resolutions which did not pass. The passing of these resolutions will require that additional board members are present for the meeting.
