School Board Meeting
October 25, 2018
The School Board met on Thursday, October 25th.  School Board members include: Ms Tracy Lisi (Chair), Mr John Auerbach, Mr Charles Beatty, Mr Jeff Billig, Mr Rick Dumont, Mr Herman Engel, Ms Lynn Weber, Mr Bill Wood, and Ms Bonnie Wolff.  All were present at the meeting except Ms Lisi and Mr Wood.

Presentations:
The meeting began with a presentation of the Freshman Mentoring Program. High school seniors attended training in the summer and started a program to facilitate the transition of 9th graders to high school. There was a lot of positive feedback supporting the benefits of the program.


Committee Reports:
Finance - Covered in a previous update. 
Curriculum - there is a draft of the Comprehensive Plan Review on the AG website until Nov.6th.  Comments are welcome.
Co-curricular - there is a Strategic Plan on the website.
Committee of the Whole – the architects showed the Board a possible layout for the new high school.  Financing options for the new school were also presented.


Superintendent’s Report:
School Enrollment at 5062 with an addition 822 students at the Charter School.
Community Checkpoint was attended by 35 people who were updated on the building project.  Another meeting is scheduled for Nov. 8th.


Senior Volunteers- as of October 1st, 53 seniors have spent time in the schools in exchange for a tax relief credit.
Safety and Security- the school district applied for a grant from the state to update district security. The high school will start using ID badges as of Dec. 1st.  There will be a presentation on school safety by Chester County District Attorney Tom Hogan on October 29th.
